What modest recovery looks like
04 — Where to Look Next
These numbers raise questions. They don't answer them.
The snapshot shows you the shape of your funnel. The questions it raises are the ones worth answering — and answering them takes lead-source data, capacity context, and an outside read on the process.
  • Do I really need more leads? The most common question operators walk in with. Often it's also the wrong one to start with.
  • Is my marketing spend efficient? Cost per lead is one number. Cost per lead by source tells a different story.
  • What's my lead quantity and quality like — by source? Volume without quality is expensive. Quality without volume is fragile.
  • How well am I converting to appointments, and is the quality there? A high Set rate doesn't matter if appointments don't run, or if the ones that run aren't qualified.
  • Is my sales process working? Is close rate the constraint, or is avg sale? Or both?
  • Am I working follow-up? Ghosts and DNS are revenue you've already paid for. Most operators leave it on the table.
And remember: we don't add more spend before tuning the machine. More leads on a leaky funnel just costs more. Fix the leaks first. Then scale.
